Double Cropping
Jacob Farms receives around 30 inches of annual rainfall per year. This amount of rain allows us to grow more than one crop per year on the same field. Our typical double crop entails planting soybeans or grain sorghum after wheat in late June or early July. We also put wheat behind soybeans in October. Our goal is to always have something growing. We do not leave land fallow. This promotes healthy soil biology, controls erosion, and eliminates extra chemical applications by eliminating the fallow period.
